Almost all newer cars are equipped with safety features under the acronym ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). These features may include Forward Collision Alert (FCA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDWS) Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) among others.
These systems work utilizing a camera or several cameras mounted to the windshield in these vehicles. Every time the camera is dismounted from the windshield, and especially if the windshield is replaced, it is necessary to recalibrate the camera so that it is properly aimed. It is like a rifle with a scope. If the scope is removed and mounted to another rifle it will need to be re-sighted. This process is important for all your safety features to work according to factory specifications. At Generations Auto Glass we have state of the art calibration systems and calibrate virtually all makes and models of vehicles.
